Unlike humans, birds can choose their routes freely and independently of predetermined paths. Even the strongest gusts of wind cannot harm them. Unimpressed, they glide with the wind. Streamlined and elegant without a recognisable destination.
It remains unclear whether the birds actually feel free and independent or if this is merely a projection of human emotions? Do the birds feel comforted in the flock or does the individual bird not really care who flies next to it?
The series “Up in the Sky” shows birds in contrast to the immobility of architecture, making their lightness even more striking.
